The degree of sophistication of plastic parts in automobiles is constantly increasing. That is why, in Colortec we formulate our own colorants and additives for automotive products in order to obtain technical parts that comply with the highest quality standards of the most renowned brands in the sector. We work with any type of materials, such as the following:
Lightweight and the improvement and innovations in the vehicle’s design are currently priority attributes in this industry, together with research for the improvement of the final user’s safety. Thus, the use of technical plastics has become popular in the sector and the masterbatch’s requirements for automotive products are increasingly demanding. The proportion of plastic that may be found in new cars is higher nowadays, which implies the proliferation of plastic parts and a wide diversity of polymers with an increased performance. This way, the use of steel and aluminium in the design has been reduced, as well as their product’s weight and the carbon footprint that is generated during the manufacturing process of each new vehicle.
Our colour laboratory applies pigments and colorants to automotive products that bring to reality the ideas of the most skilled and innovative designers in the sector. Besides, depending on the technical requirements of each piece and their final application for several vehicle parts, ‘colour’ and ‘additives’ are combined in order to improve, for instance, the life cycle of the pieces in technical plastics.
Many pieces used in certain car brands are coloured with pre-dyed plastic resins or they are composites and fibre epoxy resins. Conversely, there are many other pieces that are manufactured with thermoplastics, which require a higher degree of customization and flexibility in their design. In order to manufacture the pieces, we create and design masterbatch with adjusted specifications to the requirements of our customers and optimized dispersions, which provide very satisfactory results.
Our customers transform all kinds of parts, such as bumpers, interior parts, conducts, trims, headlights, fuel tanks and, in general, any other plastic piece of the car manufactured in thermoplastics.
Our products are in conformity with the Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), the European Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS) and technical specifications of each automobile manufacturers (FORD, SEAT). We also work with the global standard IMDS, which is used by the most distinguished manufacturers.
